I’m so excited to be back in San Diego! At Convoy Nights I was able to split a booth with my friend @san.doodling. We had a 10ft x 10ft outdoor space. This was our first time outside with our current set up featuring multiple racks and cube squares on the table. As well as our first evening event which had some unforeseen challenges.

Our spot was over in the back corner by the car show. At first we were a little skeptical being so far away from all the other vendors but it turned out to be a good thing! One thing to keep in mind when doing outdoor events with food, is how the scent of the food can be absorbed into your products. Since we have crochet goods and sweaters this would have been an issue. Luckily we were in the opposite corner of the food booths. Our placement at the end also gave us a little more wiggle room with the space we had available. We extended our clothing racks a little past our space line so that people could have better access to the racks.

As the sun began to set we realized we had a major issue we forgot to consider: the sun setting. The even had some large pole lights but they were all concentrated on the other side by the stage and food vendors. Some craft vendors brought their own clamp lights to put on their canopy which is an idea I will be keeping in mind for next time. Luckily I made an impulse purchase a few weeks back for rechargeable string lights. They were not the brightest but it definitely helped us stand out at night compared to the other vendors with no lighting. Some shoppers ended up using their phone lights to look around at night.

Overall I think this event was the perfect place for me to vendor. Many of my stickers are food oriented and Asian-American inspired, Convoy is full of Asian roots and is known for their delicious food. At an event that has food vendors, lower priced items tend to do better because customers are already conscious of the money they spent on getting food. @san.doodling noted that she did not sell as many t-shirts and sweaters which are typically her main income source. I will definitely see if I am able to come back to vendor again in the future!
